shahid kapoor, shah rukh khan,

Be it rom-com or thrillers, Shahid Kapoor can ace every genre and he has proved it with his impressive body of work. Initially in his career, the actor won hearts with his image as romantic boy in films like Vivah, Jab We Met, Ishq Vishq among others. Shahid Kapoor was compared to Shah Rukh Khan and touted to be the next romantic hero. Well, such comparisons did bother him and the actor has shared his thoughts on the same in a recent interaction.

Shahid Kapoor on being compared to Shah Rukh Khan

Talking about how the comparison affected him, Shahid in a recent interview said, “It’s the worst thing that can happen. Why should you be the next anything? You are you and they are they. And that is the worst part of the job that you are doing, that you must be like somebody who is already successful. If you are like them, by virtue of that, you will be successful in the future. This is the dumbest logic that I have ever heard in my life. You must be you because you cannot give the people what that person’s giving. They have an independent, individual relationship with that person.”

He further added, “As younger kids, you feel a lot of pressure because you feel that you must live up to that kind of a comparison. So you start shaping and moulding yourself in a manner which is based on the comparison as opposed to actually finding what lies within you, which is original and different, and which is essentially all you have to give. That’s a very unhealthy thing which happens.”

Not only this, the actor in 2017 as well had addressed how the comparison is unhealthy. “The worst thing that can happen to a newcomer is being compared to a big star or an established actor because it confuses him. It (comparison with SRK) did trouble me initially as I did not know what to do. Every actor needs to find himself… It was not fair to compare Shah Rukh Khan with a newcomer”, stated the actor.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Shahid Kapoor will next be opposite Kriti Sanon in the untitled rom-com, the upcoming movie will release in cinemas on December 7, 2023.
