Shahid Kapoor reveals the advice father Pankaj Kapur gave him in his initial years in Bollywood

It took the actor some time to figure out his path, but the one he is on now, is surely taking him towards greatness.

The audience saw Shahid Kapoor as a cute, innocent boy in films for a long time. He even chose most characters like that. But then came Jab We Met that changed a lot of perceptions. That image change was supported by roles like in Kaminey and then Haider was a complete game-changer.

Shahid Kapoor REVEALS father Pankaj Kapur advice…

The actor is doing some poignant and hard-hitting cinema today. His recent performances in Kabir Singh, Jersey and Farzi have been highly lauded. It can be said that Shahid has indeed done a varied and diverse amount of work on screen. And recently in an interview with ETimes, the actor spoke about that, revealing the advice his dad Pankaj Kapur gave him in his initial years in Bollywood.

He shared, “My dad once told me, ‘Beta, abhi tum kar lo yeh sab – cute boy, romantic and all – par jis din tum acting karna shuru kar doge na, tab aisa lagega ki sher ke muh mein khoon lag gaya hai, phir tumhe baar baar waise hi kirdaar karne ka mann karega (Son, you can be the cute boy in films now, but the day you begin acting, you will not be able to leave it and will want to play such roles always).’ It has turned out to be just the way he said.”

Shahid added that he now understands the truth of his father’s words. He said,“After having worked for 20 years, I understand what he meant. I am happy about exploring diverse genres; every genre has its own appeal, but of course, the actor in me needs to feel satisfied and challenged.”

Shahid’s upcoming projects

The actor has some interesting projects in the pipeline in near future. Firstly, he is going to have the release of Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bloody Daddy. The action-packed teaser of the film was recently unveiled and it has surely left the audiences intrigued. The film will have a direct-to-OTT release. Post that, he has Dinesh Vijan’s love story with Kriti Sanon, whose first poster was also recently revealed. The chemistry between Shahid and Kriti has already become the film’s one of the biggest USP.
