Vidhu Vinod Chopra is one of those few filmmakers who always make sure to come up with the best of content. His films and his production house always tries to achieve some new levels with which people all over the world can feel proud thinking of Indian cinema. The same goes for his good friend Rajkumar Hirani, with whom Vidhu has made numerous films. Whether it’s Munnabhai MBBS or Lage Raho Munnabhai or 3 Idiots or PK or Sanju, all of them have been brilliant pieces of storytelling which will make you want to watch them over and over again.

So what’s stopping Vidhu Vinod Chopra from making the 3rd instalment in the Munnabhai franchise? The ace filmmaker didn’t shy away from talking about the same at a recent celebration of 1 year of his last film Shikara. Vidhu said while talking to Bollywood Hungama, “Our joy comes from creating cinema. Our joy comes from striving for excellence. Honestly, I have not made the third Munna Bhai, which will get me how many crores you can ask industry experts, because I still don’t have a script I like, then I must be crazy.

Well, yes, if the script isn’t worthy of a Munnabhai film, audiences would trash it worldwide, and it might kill the entire franchise altogether. So it’s better to be waiting for a great script to come up rather than do something mediocre and be panned for it. Good going Vidhu.

Many wouldn’t know that the makers of the movie did shoot for a teaser trailer sort of for the 3rd part calling it Munnabhai Chale America. The concept was dropped after the response to the video didn’t end up coming as high as they were expecting. Since then, Rajkumar Hirani has moved on to projects like 3 Idiots, PK and Sanju.

Let’s wait and watch when we finally get to see Munna played by Sanjay Dutt and Circuit played by Arshad Warsi come back together onscreen for the third instalment of the franchise.
