The director, known for films like Raaz and 1920, shared how spirituality kept him grounded during his time behind bars. Speaking candidly about the experience, he said, “Main Shree Krishna ka bhakt hu, aur main wahi raha jaha Shree Krishna paida hue the”, adding that devotion gave him the strength to stay calm and hopeful despite the circumstances.

He also spoke about a moment that stayed with him while he was in custody. Recalling words a fellow inmate who Bhatt refers to as a friend, Bhatt said, “Vik Sa ye Mewar hai yaha satya pareshan ho sakta hai, satya parajit nahi ho sakta, toh wahi Mewar ki mitti ka teeka laga ke jaa raha hu main”, underlining his belief that truth may face challenges but ultimately prevails. Bhatt said, adding in Hindi, “I am leaving from here after applying the tilak of the same soil of Mewar, truth will always remain victorious here.”

Furthermore, the filmmaker stressed that he never lost faith in the judicial process. Maintaining that justice would work in his favour, he stated, “Is desh ka joh kanoon hai mujhe ispe pura bharosa hai, usme mujhe poora yakeen aur jaisa nyay hoga woh satya ke hit me hoga”.

Desribing his time in jail Vikram Bhatt said, “I have spent two and a half months in jail. I was not only hopeful, but also completely confident that the law and order here, the truth will definitely come out. I made a friend in jail, who told me about the nature of the soil of Mewar. He told me that truth may be troubled in the soil of Mewar, but it cannot be defeated. I am leaving from here after applying the tilak of the same soil of Mewar, truth will always remain victorious here.”

Why Vikram Bhatt And His Wife Were Arrested

The legal case stems from a complaint filed in November 2025 by Dr. Ajay Murdia, founder of Indira IVF and Fertility Centre, at the Bhupalpura Police Station in Udaipur. In the FIR, Murdia alleged that Bhatt and his wife, Shwetambari Bhatt, induced him to invest funds totalling over Rs 30 crore for the planned production of multiple films — including a biopic of Murdia’s late wife — but failed to deliver the committed projects. The complaint claimed that misleading assurances, fake bills and misappropriation of the funds took place during the execution of the agreement.

Police later arrested the couple in Mumbai and brought them to Udaipur in December 2025. While the Rajasthan High Court had earlier denied their bail applications, the Supreme Court granted regular bail on February 19, allowing them to walk free pending further proceedings. The top court has directed the parties to explore mediation even as the investigation and trial continue independently, clarifying that bail does not constitute an opinion on the merits of the case.
