Divy Nidhi Sharma On Chiraiya Being Termed ‘Anti-Man’

When asked about his show, Chiraiya, being tagged as an anti-men show and why people are getting triggered by the content shown in it, Divy Nidhi Sharma said, “Yes, there is a small section of people who were triggered by the show. When an uncomfortable truth comes to light, many of us want to brush it under the carpet. Because facing it means questioning a part of our belief system, a part of our social fabric, a part of who we are. I remain hopeful that once the immediate anger settles, most of them will agree with what the show is trying to say.”

Talking about the difficulties he faced while penning the series that highlights the dark side of patriarchy in India and women’s silent suffering, the creator addmitted, “It was the most challenging script I have ever written.” He continued, “To write something that’s so far away from your lived experience is indeed very challenging. My first reaction was to give up, (but) it was my wife who convinced me to believe in myself and go for it. The most difficult scene to write was the one where Puja cuts herself. I kept crying after writing it.”
