Priyadarshan Says No To ‘Alpha Male’ Films As Dhurandhar The Revenge Storms The Box Office

Priyadarshan Reveals He Has Zero ‘A’ Certificate Films

With the latest releases, there seems to be a visible wave of masculinity and ‘alpha male’ dominance. When asked about whether he thinks with the release of his directorial Bhooth Bangla, there will be a wave of comedy relief, Priyadarshan said, “I think so because that is my biggest belief about it, because all these Border, Dhurandhar, all these films at present are nothing for family and children. So that’s a different kind of audience together, but they can still enjoy it with family and children because my first target is family and children. I’ll tell you why.”

He continued, “Because they rarely come out. Another thing is, I can proudly say that no parent will be embarrassed to sit by their children to watch my film. Because I don’t use any vulgarity in my dialogues or double meanings, nothing. So they can bravely and with confidence come with their children and watch the film. That’s something I have maintained.”

Talking about his certificates, he added,” I was telling day before yesterday that I have made 98 films. I think I only have three to five UA certificates. All the rest is U and no A certificate film at all for me in my career. So that is something I thought, okay, I have my own signature, let that signature be this film, if it works, it is good for me.”

Priyadarshan Opens Up On His Reason Behind Making Clean-Comedy Films

The veteran filmmaker further added, “My parents were never embarrassed to take me to some film without knowing that there are certain things, and I decided that that embarrassment should not happen to another father or mother. So it is there in my subconscious. So, I generally don’t do that. I mean, a little bit of here and there, if you want to misinterpret, you can generally. But, I don’t do that.”

Additionally, talking about long films and whether audiences hold enough patience to sit through them, Priyadarshan said, “There’s only one thing. You should succeed in holding the audience in the theatre for two hours till the film ends. There should be one hook, and they should fall onto that hook. Nobody is saying no to Dhurandhar. Dhurandhar and Animal changed everybody’s thinking that the film should be 2 hours or 2 and a half hours. People are patiently sitting for 4 hours and watching it, so all the theories are wrong.”
