Raju Srivastava is no more. Raju, who was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), passed away at the age of 58. For the uninitiated, the comedian had suffered a heart attack and was hospitalised after he complained of chest pain.

Earlier today, Raju’s nephew Kushal Srivastava confirmed his death and told ETimes, “Yes, it is true. He passed away half and hour back. We all are at AIIMS. His entire family is here. We haven’t decided on the last rites yet.” Several celebrities including Vicky Kaushal, Akshay Kumar, Bharti Singh, Sunil Pal among others took to their social media handles and offered their condolences to his family.

Raju Srivastava’s real name is Satya Prakash Srivastava. And, the comedian was born in Kanpur.

The comedian became a popular name in the industry after he appeared on the show ‘Great Indian Laughter Challenge’ in 2005.

Raju was popularly known for the iconic character ‘Gajodhar’, that he had invented.

Raju Srivastava made his acting debut with Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit Nene starrer Tezaab.

The comedian has featured in Hindi films such as Shah Rukh Khan starrer Baazigar, Salman Khan’s movie Maine Pyar Kiya, and Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiya.

He was also a part of TV shows like Comedy Nights With Kapil, Nach Baliye 6, Adaalat, Shaktimaan, Bigg Boss 3, Laugh India Laugh and others.

He was the chairman of the Film Development Council, Uttar Pradesh.
