K C Bokadia’s ‘Dirty Politics’ a film based on the corruption prevalent in Political environs, was a good concept based on a sex scandal. But somewhere the movie that sets out to lay bare the filth and sleaze that Indian politics is usually associated with only manages to whip up muck. K C Bokadia, who is back after a hiatus of 12 years, is back with an imposing star-cast in the Multistarrer. But seems like the man who has clearly seen much better days as a movie merchant, has somewhere down the line lost his magic touch.

A political drama and murder mystery ‘Dirty Politics’ is apparently based on the story of Bhanwari Devi and Mahipal Maderna. But this multi starrer with ace actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri, Anupam Kher and Jackie Shroff has not done justice to the concept.

Anokhi Devi (Mallika Sherawat) is a popular dancer who engages in a relationship with Dina Nath (Om Puri) for political power. When election ticket doesn’t come her way, she threatens to bring out an all revealing objectionable CD, something that can destroy Dina Nath’s career. Anokhi goes missing and the case moves to CBI for investigation. CBI chief (Anupam Kher), is clueless and takes a long time to solve the case.

Mallika Sherawat as Anokhi Devi from Rajasthan. A not-very educated dancing girl, is dreadfully rusty as an ambitious danseuse. Sherawat’s skin show adds no value to the plot.

Om Puri, playing the Dirty Old Man to the hilt, hams it up and makes the most of his lecher, pawing away happily.

Kher, Shah and Puri manage to better an otherwise dreadful narrative, but are clueless just like the spectators. Jackie Shroff as the Kohl Lined Bad Man is wasted.

We wonder how Bokadia managed to convince stellar actors like Om Puri, Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher to be part of the foolishness. A mishmash of terrible editing and an unsurprising plot-line, the film fails to do justice to its core idea.

Watch it if you are a fan of Mallika Sherawat’s skin show, but if not then give it a miss.
