Sunidhi Chauhan wants to play a serial killer

While actresses are turning singers, it looks like singers too want to try their hands on acting. Sunidhi Chauhan, who is known for her powerful voice is all set to make her acting debut with a short film and is open to work in feature films as well.

She plays the lead role in Imtiaz Ali’s brother Arif Ali’s short film titled ‘Playing Priya’. It’s about a homemaker and a caring mother who craves her ‘me time’.

Sunidhi said, “I’ve known Arif for years and loved the story so much that I volunteered to be a part of it. We’ve shot for some 23 hours and it was unbelievable!”

“Arif urged me to do it because being a short it wouldn’t cut into my schedule. I find acting liberating and hope the audience sees me as an actor rather than a singer,” she added.

Sunidhi is open to doing more films and is not just looking at being the lead, but roles she’d be happy enacting. “Small or big doesn’t matter. Music is like my personal life while acting is like my professional life.”

She also pointed out that she wants to work with actors like Ranbir Kapoor and Randeep Hooda. “And I want to play a serial killer because in real life I am this good, friendly girl,” she said.

Sunidhi also stated that in her films she doesn’t want to sing for herself. She said, “I’d love Kavita Seth or Neeti Mohan to sing for me and I would take up the challenge of doing justice for their voices much like Urmila Matondkar and Lara Dutta made songs like ‘Do Pyar Karnewale Jungle Mein’ and ‘Aisa Jadoo Dala Re’ their own.”
