Randeep Hooda Battle of Saragarhi

Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda is back with another gem, and this time he will be seen depicting the role of a Sikh soldier. The actor is collaborating with Rajkumar Santoshi for a project titled as ‘Battle Of Saragarhi’. The story of the movie is based on a true story that had taken place during the Anglo-Afghan war of 1897.

The Muhurat of the upcoming film was a grand affair that had eminent politicians such as Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport and Highways and Shipping, Manohar Parrikar, Defence Minister of India, and Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting present at the occasion. One thing that stood out was the presence of 21 Sikh soldiers from the Sikh Regiment. They were not only honoured but also presented with a ‘Siropa’ and a ‘Khanda’.

Randeep Hooda will be seen playing the role of Havildar Ishar Singh, the military commander of the 36th Sikhs in Santoshi’s film. He had shared his first look on Twitter recently. Santoshi will begin the shoot of the period action drama on 12 September at the Saragarhi Gurudwara in Amritsar.

There is a slight controversial twist to the story as actor Ajay Devgn too is making a film based on the same topic, which he has named as ‘Sons of Sardaars’. We’ll have to wait and watch as to which onscreen ‘Battle of Saragarhi’ turns out to be a money-spinner at the box office.

The story of the film is based on the 21 Sikh soldiers who fought with courage with 10,000 Afghan tribesmen for 7 hours, to protect the post of Saragarhi. The epic battle is a chapter, about which the current soldiers should definitely know.

Presented by Wave Cinemas and produced by Raju Chadha, ‘Battle Of Saragarhi’ will release in 2017.
