Vijay Deverakonda's Kingdom 2 SHELVED

The much-anticipated Gowtam Tinnanuri’s Kingdom 2, starring Vijay Deverakonda, has officially been shelved, marking a setback for the actor’s career. Producer Naga Vamsi confirmed the news in an interview, choosing not to elaborate on the reasons behind the film’s underwhelming box office performance.

Vijay Deverakonda’s Kingdom 2 Shelved After Box Office Failure

In a conversation with Idlebrain, Vamsi was asked about the status of the Kingdom sequel. He responded plainly, “No, we are not making it anymore.” When questioned whether the film might have been more successful as a standalone instead of leading up to a sequel, he said, “There’s no point in discussing what happened because it’ll only hurt Gowtam. There’s nothing more to do now.”

Regarding future collaborations, Vamsi assured that he plans to work with Gowtam Tinnanuri again soon, mentioning that the director is currently working on a “different kind of film.”

The Fate Of Kingdom

Released last July, Kingdom aimed to be a career revival for Vijay Deverakonda, whose momentum had slowed since the 2022 release of Liger. Despite generating hype and receiving mixed reviews, the film managed to gross only Rs 82 crore worldwide. The movie featured Vijay as Suri, a constable turned reluctant spy, who goes undercover in Sri Lanka to infiltrate a criminal gang. The film concluded with a cliffhanger, leaving audiences eager for more.

Vijay’s Upcoming Projects

Vijay’s recent appearances include the 2024 film The Family Star and a cameo in Kalki 2898 AD. Following Kingdom, he is set to star in Rowdy Janardhana, directed by Ravi Kiran Kola. In the film, Vijay portrays a rowdy, with the first glimpse showing him covered in blood and dressed in a lungi, hinting at an intense role ahead.
