In Chennai, large hoardings of Vijay have been prominently displayed across the city. Fans gathered in large numbers outside cinemas, dancing and celebrating the film’s release. Videos of actress Keerthy Suresh arriving to watch the film have also been shared, along with reports that actress Trisha is expected to attend a screening at Rohini Theatre. Vijay himself watched a special screening of the film on Wednesday, as confirmed by PTI.

The festivities extended beyond Chennai. In Tirunelveli, a DJ setup was arranged outside Muthuram Multiplex where thousands of fans danced to celebrate. Notably, a group of fans from Japan flew to Chennai specifically for the release of Vijay’s final film.

In Kanyakumari, fans cut a massive cake inscribed with “Jana Nayagan: One Last Time,” proudly displaying their tickets amid loud music. In Kerala, fans turned up early for a 6 am show at a theatre in Wayanad, continuing the celebrations across neighbouring states.

A fan from Mumbai expressed the emotional significance, stating, “It is a very emotional moment for many of us. We never thought it would come to this. I have been watching Vijay’s films for the last 15 years. Even if the film is not good, we won’t complain. At least we will get to see him on screen one last time.” Another fan added, “As a Mumbaikar and Gen Z, I love Vijay. He inspires me. I am here to celebrate and enjoy this moment.”

About The Film’s Release Controversy

Jana Nayagan was released in over 3,500 theatres after a delay of more than six months. Originally scheduled for Pongal release earlier this year, the film faced hurdles when the CBFC refused to clear it. After multiple reviews and legal action by the makers, it finally received certification.

In a related note, Tamil Nadu minister Arunraj addressed questions about the film’s release amidst ongoing protests by the CJP. He remarked, “Don’t compare protests with a film release. There are many problems that need to be addressed. We are emotional about this film.”
