Satish Shah Passes Away At 74 Due To Kidney Failure

Veteran actor Satish Shah, one of Indian cinema’s most loved and respected performers, passed away on October 25 at around 2:30 pm at Mumbai’s Hinduja Hospital. He was 74. Known for his remarkable comic timing and warm screen presence, Shah had been suffering from kidney-related complications and had recently undergone a transplant.

Despite medical efforts, he could not recover. His manager confirmed the sad news to India Today, adding that the body remains at the hospital and that the funeral will be held on Sunday. The actor succumbed to kidney failure. Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit confirmed the news of his demise and shared that Satish Shah passed away at the Hinduja Hospital. 

His body will be at his house in Bandra from 10 am to 11 am on 26th October. His last rites will be performed at Pawan Hans cremation ground S.V.Road (Vile Parle ( W). Mumbai at 12. Pm .

Satish Shah’s contribution to Indian entertainment spans over four decades. He brought joy and laughter to millions through his unforgettable roles in both films and television. His performance in the 1983 classic satire Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro is still celebrated, where he skillfully portrayed multiple characters and left audiences in splits.

On television, Shah achieved iconic status for his role as Indravadan Sarabhai in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai. His witty dialogues and perfect comic timing made the character a favorite among viewers, earning the show a cult following. Earlier, he also starred in the much-loved sitcom Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi (1984), which became one of the most popular shows of its time.

In films, Shah appeared in several hit movies such as Hum Saath-Saath Hain, Main Hoon Na, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, and Om Shanti Om. His ability to seamlessly fit into any role—whether comic or emotional—made him one of the most versatile actors in the industry.


Satish Shah’s passing marks the end of an era in Indian entertainment. Fans and colleagues continue to remember him for his infectious humor, kindness, and the unforgettable characters he brought to life.
