Recently India witnessed one of the worse terror attacks on its security forces. The attack claimed the lives of around 40 CRPF jawans.  While the entire nation is in a state of anger and pain, Bollywood celebrities condemned this heinous crime and came forward to help the families of martyrs. Now after Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan, actor Akshay Kumar has come forward to lend his support.

According to CRPF’s DIG Jagdish Narayan Meena, Akshay has given Rs 15 lakh to Sundari Devi, wife of Jeet Ram Gurjar. Gurjar was among the jawans killed in Pulwama attack. The official further informed Hindustan Times that the amount was transferred under Akshay Kumar’s trust, ‘Bharat Ke Veer’.

Thanking the actor for his help, Gurjar’s younger brother Vikram Singh said, “We are very poor. Jeet was the only earning member of the family. This help has come at a time when the family needed it the most.” Vikram also stated that he was preparing for competitive exams and had to look after his parents. “We don’t have a house. After Jeet’s death, the family is back to penury,” he added.

Importantly, Akshay Kumar and former National Badminton Champion Pullela Gopichand have also been included in the trustees of ‘Bharat Ke Veer’ trust.
