In a recent judgement on Tuesday, 17 October, the Supreme Court ruled against same-sex marriage in our country, India. The bench did not grant legal recognition to queer marriages in the country. Now, Bollywood celebrities including Bhumi Pednekar and Celina Jaitley have expressed disappointment over the judgment on same-sex marriage.

Bollywood celebrities react to Supreme Court’s verdict on same-sex marriage

The Thank You For Coming actress Bhumi Pednekar took to her Instagram handle and shared screenshots of the verdict given by the Supreme Court.

Apart from Bhumi Pednekar, actress Celina Jaitley also reacted to the Supreme Court’s verdict on same-sex marriage. Her story read, “If we break tomorrow and the verdict shall not be in our favor. We will break into a million pieces. Each of which would be another we. If we make it tomorrow. We shall break into a million pieces in joy. Each of which would be another we. Either this or that, we shall break. Tears will flow. Hearts will palpate.”

Film director Onir also expresses disappointment over the verdict

My Brother…Nikhil director Onir took to his Twitter handle and expressed his thoughts on the verdict over same-sex marriage.

Though there are not many legal liberties for the ones in same-sex relationships, Bollywood movies in the context of same-sex relationship like Badhaai Do, Aligarh, and more have proven that love is love. Such films have proven to be very remarkable and memorable among the netizens. Not only this, the audience has appreciated and also has received such movies very well on the healthy portrayal of same-sex relationships.
