Exclusive: Contrary to rumours, Ranveer Singh was always the first choice for Don 3, not Ranbir Kapoor!

In August, it was announced that Ranveer Singh will be replacing Shah Rukh Khan as Don in Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3. Since then, Don 3 has been making headlines for multiple reasons. Recently, a media portal reported that Ranveer wasn’t the first choice for Don 3. It was said that the makers first approached Ranbir Kapoor to play the part and not Ranveer Singh. However, according to our sources, there’s no truth in the rumours.

A source close to the film revealed that Ranbir Kapoor was never approached for Don 3. In fact, the makers only Ranveer Singh in their minds after Shah Rukh Khan decided to not reprise his role in the third part.

Apparently when the announcement of Ranveer was announced of him the next Don was met with a lot of scrutiny. Later, Ranveer addressed the same on Karan Johar’s Koffee With Karan 7 and asked audiences to give him a chance. RS said, “Give me a chance, I’ve done decent work in the last 12-13 years, so I deserve a chance.”

It is said to be believed that the news of Ranbir being the first choice for Don 3 is stemming from the current success of his latest film Animal in which he played the role of an angry young man. On the other hand, RK has interesting projects in his kitty. He will be seen in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, followed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love And War co-starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. Besides this, he also has Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal Park, a sequel to Animal, in hand.
