vicky kaushal, irrfan khan, sardar udham,

Actor Vicky Kaushal is currently gearing up for the release of Sardar Udham directed by Shoojit Sircar. This is Vicky’s first collaboration with the Piku director. Very few might know this that Irrfan Khan was supposed to star in Sardar Udham before Vicky Kaushal came on board. The demise of Irrfan is a lost to the entire industry and his void will be still there.

On casting Vicky for Sardar Udham, Shoojit said, “I saw a lot of calmness in Vicky that is needed for the character. He had the hunger to explore. In terms of performances also, we needed a certain kind of comfortable scenerio in terms of body language and personality. A person should be very comfortable in doing that. So, in that sense I am quite satisfied and pleased and I hope he (Vicky) is also as pleased as I am.”

When asked Vicky Kaushal if it was too big shoes to fit in (on replacing Irrfan Khan), Vicky said, “I believe those shoes can’t be filled by me or any other actor. Those shoes are completely of different material. It’s not about the size of the shoes, it’s about the quality of those shoes. I have just tried my best in my individual capacity as an actor to portray Sardar Udham as truthfully as I could with the amazing guidance of Shoojit da. It has been a dream for me to be directed by him and this is one character that I have heard while growing up from my parents and grandparents. So, for me it was a beautiful circle getting completed to get this opportunity in the first place. My hunger was to give best to this project and this kind of character, you get in once in a lifetime, so you need to understand the value of the opportunity.”

He added, “I am satisfied with my efforts that I have given to this project. Now, it’s only upto the audience to say that if it resonate with them.”

Sardar Udham is releasing on October 16 on Amazon Prime Video.
