Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham starrer Pathaan released in January this year. Back then, the Siddharth Anand directorial made headlines for multiple reasons. Pathaan song Besharam Rang grabbed a lot of attention. The music video featuring SRK and Deepika had received a mixed response.

At that time, Vivek Agnihotri had reshared a video of a young girl criticising the makers of Pathaan for spreading vulgarity through SRK-Deepika’s song Besharam Rang. Vivek had reshared the video saying, “WARNING #PnV video against Bollywood. Don’t watch if you are secular.” The tweet has now been deleted. The filmmaker was brutally trolled for the same.

Vivek Agnihotri talks about his comment on SRK’s Besharam Rang song

Now, in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Vivek Agnihotri was asked about his comment on SRK’s Besharam Rang song from Pathaan. Addressing the trolling that he faced at that time, Vivek said, “I feel sad for them. Seriously, I feel sad for them because to evolve, to change is a human nature.”

The filmmaker then recalled an incident and said, “Ranveer Singh met me in one award show somewhere and everybody thought that Oh My God maybe there is going to be a conflict and Ranveer may say why do you say things about Bollywood and all. He came and hugged me. Usne mere pav chhu liye public mein sabke samne (He touched my feet in front of everyone). I never told anybody. In fact, I told everybody not to put that video out in case if somebody had shot. He said ‘Sir, when my nude picture came, you were the only person from the film industry who supported me openly and publicly’. But the problem is these kind of things go unnoticed.”

Vivek added, “I have supported so many young filmmakers and actors. I want younger people to be brave, courageous and different. I always talk about absolute free speech. I say even hate speech should be allowed.”

SRK and Deepika starrer Pathaan released on 25th January, 2023. It was a massive hit.

On the other hand, Vivek recently released a docu-series titled ‘The Kashmir Files: Unreported’ on Zee5.
