Kantara Chapter 1 Worldwide Box Office Day 4: Rishab Shetty’s Epic Enters Rs 300 Cr Club; Beats KGF Chapter 1 To Become 3rd Highest-Grossing Kannada Film

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1 is on its way to make box office records. As per the film’s latest BO reports, the Kannada film has entered the Rs 300 crore club with its gross worldwide collection as well as is now the third highest grossing Kannada film to date. After a solid Sunday collection of Rs 61 crore at the domestic box office, Kantara Chapter 1 rounded off its extended opening weekend with a domestic collection of Rs 223.25 crore net ( Rs 268 crore gross). This is the second-biggest opening weekend for any Kannada film in history, behind KGF Chapter 2’s historic Rs 380 crore domestic haul back in 2022.

Talking about its worldwide box office collection, the Rishab Shetty’s directorial picked up pace over the weekend, with reports suggesting it amassed over $6 million in the international territories. This takes the film’s worldwide gross after a 4-day extended weekend to a staggering Rs 335+ crore.

Kantara Chapter 1 Among Top 3 Highest Grossing Kannada Films

With this collection, the film has emerged as one of the highest grossing films of 2025, having passed the total collections of some recent big releases, such as Sitaare Zameen Par (Rs 266 crore) and Lokah Chapter 1 (Rs 290 crore).

Kantara Chapter 1 has also surpassed the worldwide collection of KGF Chapter 1 (Rs 248 crore). This makes it the third-highest-grossing Kannada film of all time, behind KGF Chapter 2 (Rs 1248 crore) and the 2022 film Kantara (Rs 400 crore).

About The Film

Produced by Vijay Kiragandur and Chaluve Gowda under the banner of Hombale Films, Kantara: Chapter 1 is directed by Rishab Shetty. Alongside Shetty, the epic period mythological action drama also stars Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah and Jayaram in key roles.

Giving the film a 4-star, Bollywood Bubble wrote in its review, “Rishab Shetty delivers another unforgettable performance, not just as an actor but as a director who understands the weight of mythology and its place in modern storytelling. The background score music elevates every frame, especially in the ritual and fight sequences. The sound design immerses you in a world that feels otherworldly yet grounded.”

For his performance in the 2022 film, Rishab earned the National Film Award for Best Actor. The movie had also bagged the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
