Abhishek Agarwal On Releasing The Bengal Files Ahead Of West Bengal’s 2026 Legislative Assembly Elections
When asked if The Bengal Files’ release has been timed in a manner that it releases just months before the 2026 Legislative Assembly Eelections in West Bengal, producer Abhishek Agarwal replied, “No, it’s (being made) just to talk about the history (of Bengal).” He continued, “We have taken 4 years to make the film. If we wanted to make it for the elections, we would have released it in January.”
During the same chat, when asked if he was happy with the film receiving an ‘A’ certification from the CBFC and if such a rating would limit the footfalls in theatres, the producer replied, “I can’t comment a lot on that because that is the government’s rule, so it must be thought through. I don’t know what to comment on that.”
