Sarkar 3 pahlaj nihalani

There have been reports that Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Sarkar 3’, starring Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role, is based on the life of Bal Thackeray. However, if these reports turn out to be true, then the makers have to get an NOC from the family.

CBFC Chief Pahlaj Nihalani, recently stated, “Filmmakers will not be allowed to sit on the fence. Either your work is based on true characters. Or it is a work of fiction. If you claim your film is based on facts then get us an NOC from the people concerned.”

“Earlier, trailers were shown only in movie theatres. Now they are released on social network platforms much before they hit theatres. After the trailer of ‘Jolly LLB 2’ was released there were lawsuits, as the trailer suggested that the film had real-life references. We’ve now decided to be careful with trailers as well,” he added.

Talking about ‘Sarkar 3’, Nihalani said, “Is ‘Sarkar 3’ based on the life of Bal Thackeray? If it is, then please get an NOC from his family. If not, then state it is a work of fiction. We are doing this for the benefit of filmmakers who get into messy lawsuits just days before their film releases.” (Also Read: Amitabh Bachchan rejects Queen Elizabeth II’s invitation)

The movie, which also stars Jackie Shroff, Manoj Bajpayee, Ronit Roy, Yami Gautam and Amit Sadh, is slated to hit the screens in April.
