In an old interview during the release of Meeruthiya Gangsters (2015), filmmaker Anurag Kashyap praised Zeishan Quadri for his courage, creativity, and unique eye for storytelling. Kashyap, who presented and edited the film, said Quadri’s approach reminded him of his own early days in cinema.

Anurag Kashyap Revealed Gangs Of Wasseypur Writer-Actor Zeishan Quadri Could Find Humour Where No One Else Could

“Sab kuch sambhal raha tha main, aise-aise situation hoke, interaction hoke ki 4 log gang kaise… matlab yah char pathar ek saath theli mein kaise ghus bhi sakte hai? Ye char kaise characters hai jo matlab random zone chalata rehta hai. Har aadmi apni disha mein ja raha hai, fir bhi saath mein hai,” Kashyap explained, referring to the unusual group dynamics in Meeruthiya Gangsters.

He highlighted how Zeishan Quadri managed to take scattered personalities and put them together in a way that was both funny and gripping. “Bahut kuch karne hum log ke yaha hote hai perpendicular, definite, tangent… ye jo hai 6 guna multiple karta hu. Ye wo hai… fir mere ko yah Zeishan ka bhi samajh mein aata hai, kahan se kis mein humour dhundhna hai,” Kashyap said.

The filmmaker admitted that Quadri’s courage and commitment impressed him deeply. “I saw him reflection of how I used to be early… Aur Zeishan actually dekha jaye, koi film education nahi… uske andar jo courage mere se bhi char guna jyada hai. Wo pura ghus jata hai, responsibility bhi leta hai aur cheezo ko handle bhi karta hai. Wo sab khud hi drive karta hai – release se lekar trailer tak – usme hi ghusa rehta hai,” he said.

Ten years later, as Meeruthiya Gangsters marks its anniversary, these words remain a powerful reminder of Zeishan Quadri’s fearless entry into filmmaking — built not on formal training, but on raw talent, lived experience, and unstoppable passion.
