Deepika Padukone is currently bagging many accolades for her stellar screen performance in the film, ‘Chhapaak’, and the actress has also been hitting the headlines as she recently went to Delhi and stood with the protestors at JNU. While many of the B-town celebs supported Deepika, several prominent personalities have also slammed the actress for supporting the protest. It looks like the brands want to play safe over her JNU row.

Deepika Padukone is among the actresses in India, who is the face of many top brands. She has been collaborating with some of the top brands in the country and abroad as well. As per the latest reports, Deepika Padukone’s JNU visit could result in the reduction of her brand visibility and the offers she has been getting to promote.

Normally, brands like to play safe and are wary of any controversy,” a report on Economic Times quoted Shashi Sinha, chief executive of IPG Mediabrands, which represents Coca-Cola and Amazon among others, as saying.

On the other side, a report on The Print stated that a promotional video featuring Deepika as part of the government’s Skill India campaign has been ‘abruptly dropped’. There was a lot of support for the actor too, both from within the film industry as well as on social media. A few years back, actor Aamir Khan was dropped as the brand ambassador for Snapdeal after he commented on the growing intolerance in the country.

There has been no official confirmation from Deepika Padukone or her team on this matter. Let’s wait and watch whether they decide to comment on the same or not.
