EXCLUSIVE: Akshay Oberoi reveals his son questioned him over his kissing scene with Ankur Rathee in Inside Edge: He asked, ‘aap mard ko kiss kar rahe ho?’

Akshay Oberoi was recently seen as IAF office Basheer Khan in Fighter alongside Hritik Roshan and Deepika Padukone. The actor has been in the business for over a decade now and does not shy away from experimenting with roles. He was seen playing an LGBTQ character in Inside Edge in which his kissing scene with Ankur Rather is still talked about. In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble, Akshay Oberoi revealed how his son questioned him over that scene.

Talking about how he does not shy away from playing these roles, Akshay shares, “Main as a responsibility dekhta hoon isko. In fact inside edge me jo cricket ka captain hai he is homosexual, toh jab maine script padhi aur kirdaar ke baare me directors se baat ki, it felt like a responibility ki mai sahi se karu. Kyuki mai iss community ko bahut appreciate karta hoon. (I see this thing as a responsibility. In fact when I played a homosexual cricketer in Inside Edge, I discussed everything with directors as I didn’t want to appear cliched. It was my responsibility to do it rightly). And I believe as actors we are the voice of the society.“

Talking about how his son reacted to his kissing scene, the actor remarked, “The kiss moment between me and Ankur Rathee from Inside Edge is viral and my son has seen it. He once asked me, ‘Papa aap mard ko kiss kar rahe hai?’ And I said yes. He asked me who is it and i said he is another actor. After hearing this he simply walked away. Children are innocent so it was all about how I tell him. Just because I explained politely, he heard it. We have to be responsible about how we educate our kids. I would like to make sure he knows about it as it is not an abnormal thing.”
