Deepak Tijori is a film director and actor who has worked in Bollywood and Gujarati films for several years now. The actor, who became a household name after playing Shekhar in Aamir’s debut film Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, is all set to impress the audience with his upcoming project, Echoes of Us. While promoting the short film, the actor sat down for an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble. Deepak Tijori recalled how he helped Rahul Roy learn Hindi dialogues for Mahesh Bhatt’s Aashiqui.
Deepak Tijori On 30 Years Of Rahul Roy’s Aashiqui
When shown a picture of him and Rahul Roy, Deepak Tijori revealed, “Oh my God. No, this was, this was like, Kapil (Sharma) had invited us for 30 years of Aashiqui. It was kind of a surprise thing, and of course, I wasn’t really ready yet to become an actor again. I was still in my zone, thinking I’m a director and I want to make films. But then, just one fine day, when we all got together, it was a wonderful time. I think all those memories came rushing back to us. And Rahul and I have always been in touch. Just like Pooja (Bhatt) and I, we’re still close.”
He continued, “I love him to death, even now, although he’s met with an injury and all that stuff. But when I meet him, I take care of him like he’s my baby. And undeniably, he will always remain that. That was the real Aashiqui because our bond was genuine, like he’s my brother. Because actually, I was assigned to him by Bhatt saab, if you ask me. Okay? Because I had gone through all the struggles in life, seen it all, and he was just like someone walking in fresh from the modelling world and some other world altogether.”
Deepak On Teaching Rahul Hindi For Aashiqui
The actor concluded, “So we used to tease him, like, ‘What are you even doing, man?’ He used to speak Punjabi-Hindi, and many times I was told to take him aside and teach him proper Hindi. ‘Take him to the corner and make him say the dialogue properly; too much Punjabi in it.’ So I used to take care of him in that way. And through all that, we really built a bond. His affairs, his relationships, he used to come and tell me, ‘Bro, this happened, that happened, Deepak, this happened…’ That’s the kind of life we shared. So I always felt he was just like a baby to me.”
