Kangana Ranaut-led Queen 2 is set to go on floors by the end of April. Sources reveal that the sequel will present a fresh story featuring the protagonist travelling across India. Unlike the 2014 hit, the sequel won’t be a direct continuation. It will continue exploring themes of self-discovery and self-reliance as per a new report. The actress’s award-winning role in Queen, which earned her her second National Film Award for Best Actress, remains a highlight.
Kangana Ranaut To Begin Filming Queen 2 From April End?
After the success of the original, which saw Kangana’s character Rani embark on a solo honeymoon after a breakup, anticipation for the follow-up is high. Mid-day reported that Kangana Ranaut and director Vikas Bahl are preparing to begin filming soon.
A source shared, “In Queen 2, Kangana’s Rani will be a city girl unlike the small-town girl in the original. She will be smart, strong, and quirky, but a plot point will send her on the road of self-discovery. It will show how she conquers life through her individuality, self-realisation, and courage. While the first one saw her travelling to Paris and Amsterdam alone, this journey will take her across cities in India.”
Interestingly, the sequel will not feature any familiar faces from the original cast. The director has reportedly cast several theatre actors for supporting roles. The source added, “The unit will kick off the project in a Mumbai studio, where a set reflecting a North Indian city and another depicting the protagonist’s home will be built. After the Mumbai leg, they will move to other metro cities. The film will be completed in a start-to-finish schedule of three months.”
